Yidi Song is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Flute Performance and Literature and a minor in Music Theory at the Eastman School of Music studying with Bonita Boyd. In 2018, Ms. Song made her debut as a soloist performing the Nielsen Flute Concerto with the Flint Symphony Orchestra in the prominent Whiting Hall. Recently, Ms. Song has won a London-based Telemann Fantasias Competition, which included a feature of her complete Telemann Fantasia No.9 on a CD released by Oboe Classics.

Ms. Song has been dedicated to a career of teaching since 2016. Serving as the teaching assistant and studio assistant for the studio of Prof. Bonita Boyd for 5 years, she was praised as "putting students' needs first" and awarded the Teaching Assistant Prize for Excellence in Teaching in applied Flute instruction by Eastman School of Music in 2020, and a Diploma of "Recognition for dedication and achievement in the field of teaching music" by European Academic Artists Association. Many of her students have won concerto competitions, honorable mentions in highly competitive flute competitions, received great grades on their juries, and give their recitals successfully.

An active solo flutist, Ms. Song's performance experience includes touring for solo recitals and competitions in the United States, Europe, and China. She was awarded 1st place in the Second China Flute Association Young Artist Competition, the German Flute Society of Beijing Festival Competition, the 2017 William C. Byrd International Young Artist Competition for Winds and Brass, the 2019 Flute Society of Washington, the 2020 South Carolina Flute Association, 2021 Mid-South Flute Society and Arizona Flute Society's Young Artist Competition.

Ms. Song also has a passion for piccolo. She was awarded 1st place in the Second China Flute Association Young Artist Piccolo competition, the San Diego Flute Guild piccolo competition, the Rochester Flute Association Piccolo Artist competition, and one of six semifinalists in the 2020 National Flute Association Piccolo Artist competition. In 2017, Ms. Song was invited to join the fellowship program at the Sarasota Music Festival and Texas Music festival 2018, and she was an active performer in a series of concerts. Playing regularly as an orchestral musician, she has performed as Principal Flute with the Eastman Philharmonic, Eastman Wind Ensemble, and China Conservatory Philharmonic. She has also performed chamber music with the China National Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Musica Nova as well as a string quartet, and a woodwind quintet.

A native of China, Ms. Song completed a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from the China Conservatory in Beijing in 2016 where she studied with Zhaorong Chen. In recognition of her academic and performance accomplishments, she was also awarded a National Scholarship by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. She has also completed the Master of Music degree in Flute Performance and Literature and was awarded a Performer's Certificate in 2018 from Eastman School of Music as a student of Bonita Boyd.
