Gordon Porth hails from Vancouver, British Columbia. His formal studies were in piano, organ and jazz at the University of British Columbia, Pacific Lutheran University and the Phil Mattson School of Music.
For 10 years Gordon played the piano for Crystal Cruises. He visited all seven continents as a member of the show-band, and beginning in 2017, as a solo pianist. In addition to performing on cruise ships, highlights of Gordon's career have included a solo recital on the "Bach Organ" in Leipzig, Germany, an all-Mozart concert in Salzburg, Austria, a performance at The Sydney Jazz Festival in Australia and accompanying several Rodgers & Hammerstein Sing-alongs at the Hammerstein farm in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. A few years ago he completed a training course at the National Ballet of Canada for piano accompanists. He has recorded several collaborative CDs with colleagues including flautist Candace Keach, 4-hand piano partner Sarah Stedman, and Rodgers & Hammerstein enthusiast Jessie Barth. When at home in Rochester, Gordon has been an accompanist at both the Eastman Community Music School and for ballet classes at the Draper Center. In addition to his performing career, Gordon is building a business as a piano tuner/technician in Rochester. His hobbies include gardening and glass on glass art. |
